Humberto Delgado Airport is the best of the best according to ACI Europe
Lisbon Airport has been distinguished as “Best European Airport 2020” by ACI Europe, the international airport organization. This award distinguishes the “responsibility and commitment” of Humberto Delgado Airport in the face of the pandemic of the new coronavirus.
The distinction for Lisbon takes place in the category of airports operating between 25 and 40 million passengers. Humberto Delgado, as well as all airports of ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, has implemented protective measures this year since the beginning of the crisis, and is now also highlighted at European level.
According to ANA, in addition to following the guidelines of the Health entities, the entity has constantly adapted the necessary contagion mitigation measures. Recommendations for physical distancing – through signage and adequacy of spaces – strengthening cleaning and disinfection using innovative procedures and measuring temperature for all arriving passengers were some of the measures implemented in Lisbon.
Others included adjusting passenger flows to prevent mergers and installing a PCR testing laboratory for passengers from certain countries.
