Lisbon’s network of cycling paths continues to grow. After Praça de Espanha, the City Council prepares to build a bike path along Conde Almoster Street and Francisco Gentil Martins Street and it will be over two kilometers long.

“The bike path will connect, to the north, the existing cycling network of Benfica and the Monsanto Forest Park and, to the south, to the Sete Rios Terminal. It is planned, in the future, to continue the route to benfica station, by Rua Carolina Michaelis de Vasconcelos”, can read in a note published on the official website of the municipality on October 3.

The intervention, he explains, will also reduce the speed practiced on that axis, contributing to increased road safety.

The City Council of Lisbon has in place a program to promote the use of bicycles, which includes the implementation of a structuring cycling network, covering the central axes of circulation and connecting the main centers of work, study and residence.

“The strategy aims to create a safe alternative so that more and more people can opt for cycling in their daily commutes,” concludes the municipality.
