Almost two months after it’s closure due to Coronavirus, Lisbon’s Zoo will reopen this Friday!
In a press release Lisbon’s Zoo (Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa) stated that the Zoo has always corresponded to the guidelines emanating from the DGS (Directorate-General for Health) implementing the recommended safety and hygiene rules. This Friday when the Zoo reopens the same recommendations will be taken into account and applied to the different situations experienced in the park.
The Zoo is proud that in this period it has never lowered its arms and maintained the standards of excellence that have always characterized it, in the care of animals. It has also maintained its mission out of doors, through continuous collaboration in conservation programs in the natural habitat, as well as in fulfilling its educational mission to raise awareness of families and the school community about the need to conserve the planet’s biodiversity.
The Zoo states that the reopening process will be phased and the presentations and attractions like the dolphins show will be temporarily closed.
