A Day with the Train is the name of the initiative that will take place on Monday, September 20, in Lisbon and also in Porto and Coimbra. To travel at the promotional price, all you need to do is buy a trip at ticket offices and vending machines at all stations with Urbano services from CP and Fertagus. You will need to purchase a round trip (ie two single tickets) that have the same starting and ending point. Two examples: a trip from Entrecampos to Azambuja and back to Entrecampos on a CP Urbano, or a trip from Campolide to Setúbal with return to Campolide on a Fertagus train.
CP Urbanos are made up of four lines: the Sintra Line , between Rossio and Sintra; the Azambuja Line , between Santa Apolónia and Azambuja; the Cascais Line , between Cais do Sodré and Cascais; the Sado Line , between Barreiro and Setúbal; and the Belt Line , between Alcântara-Terra and the East, which, however, does not operate on weekends.
Fertagus’ offer is made up of just one line, between Roma-Areeiro and Setúbal , and between Campolide and Pinhal Novo this private operator has exclusivity (CP’s service on the south bank only coincides with Fertagus’ service between Pinhal Novo and Setúbal). Despite having only one line, Fertagus offers a network of bifurcations by bus from the train stations where it operates, called Sulfertagus (note: the One Day With Train campaign does not cover travel by Sulfertagus, only train travel).
The One Day With Train initiative will take place during the European Mobility Week and aims to commemorate the European Year of Rail Transport , which is celebrated this year, seeking to highlight the role of the railroad as a factor in territorial and social cohesion. This campaign brings together CP, Fertagus, Infraestruturas de Portugal and the two Portuguese freight railway operators – Medway and Takargo.
The customer must have a valid Viva Viagem card, or purchase it for €0.50 to top up the tickets.
