Purchase of bicycles is once again supported by the Lisbon City Council!

The stimulus program is expected to start accepting applications as early as February or early March.

After the success of the program to support the acquisition of bicycles, which accepted applications between August and November 2020 and helped the purchase of 3300 bicycles, the Lisbon City Council decided to reopen it this year.

The 2021 edition brings several novelties, one of which is also extended to bike repair. The program supports 50% of the expenses up to 80 euros in the purchase of materials for minor repair, thus allowing lisboners who already have bicycles that were stationary to put them functional.

There’s good news for families, too. All cargo bikes, a generic name that includes bicycles with children’s transport carriers, are now supported. Last year’s program exclusively supported the purchase of electric vehicles and now extends to conventional vehicles, including the purchase of safety accessories.

In addition, the program extends to non-profit entities and the parish councils of the municipality of Lisbon, which can now apply.

For those who bought a bicycle after November last year and could no longer take advantage of this support will be able to apply now and receive the council membership retroactively.
